Training & Support

Training and Development with Ashton Home Care

A thorough induction training schedule has been designed to ensure that you will have a really good understanding of what the role of a carer at Ashton is and what will be expected from you on a day-to-day basis.

The training team will lead you though a number of classroom sessions and practical activities designed specifically to give you the skills and knowledge to ensure that you are happy and confident in your role. Once the induction programme has been completed you will be ready for your first service user placement.


The topics included within the induction programme include:

  • Service user customer service
  • The role of the carer, your duties, responsibilities and how we deliver them.
  • Our values and beliefs at Ashton Home Care
  • Medication
  • Personal care
  • Manual handling
  • Abuse and safeguarding
  • Dementia
  • Cooking and mealtimes
  • Health and safety
  • First aid


Our management team will support you through your learning, including the completion of the NVQ level 2 diploma in Health and Social care. Each member of Ashton Home Care staff receives an annual appraisal and regular supervision meetings where personal development and training needs are reviewed and discussed.

We have many career opportunities within Ashton Home Care and always celebrate when we are able to promote one of our team. We have carers who have developed in their careers at Ashton and been promoted to many different departments including managerial, recruitment, training and senior management roles. Step 1

Step 2

Within Ashton Home Care there is a rich variety of roles that require different skills and abilities. Read about the range of job roles to see what interests you.

Step 3

Call to speak to the registered manager of the office. The registered manager will be able to talk to you about their vacancies and will answer any questions you may have about working for Ashton Home Care.

Step 4

Fill in an online application form. Alternatively you can download one or request one through the office.

Step 5

The registered manager will review the application form and invite successful applicants to an interview at the office. During the interview you will have an opportunity to ask further questions and gain a better understanding of the role you are applying for.

We thoroughly vet all of our potential staff. You will be working in a position of trust where honesty and integrity are essential. We will carry out a check with the Disclosure and Barring Service before you start work for Ashton Home Care.

Step 6

Successful applicants will receive thorough induction training so they have the skills and knowledge to carry out their job role. Our training is designed to support those with or without experience and exceeds the minimum requirements set by our national regulators.

A CAREER IN CARE

Develop your Career with Ashton

Career development is very important to us at Ashton and we look to provide opportunities to all of our staff to improve their knowledge and develop their skills.

This can be achieved in a number of different ways including workshops such as dementia care and complex care, through on-line learning via LearntoCare and other sites such as SCIE, by reading books and articles and through coaching from colleagues and managers. We also provide every member of Ashton Home Care with the opportunity to complete nationally recognised qualifications after 6 months within the company.

Every member of the Ashton staff has a one-to-one meeting with their manager at least every 6 months. One of these meetings will be their annual appraisal during which there is a special focus on your development and how you would
